The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak...
This is precisely the genesis of Descartes' thoughts about the mind as a separate entity from the body, and still a rather big mystery as we try to figure out what the "mind" is. How is it we go to sleep at night, or we have general anesthesia, yet we wake up with the sense that we are the same person?
Oh wow, my great-grandmother once said that she did not recognize who was in her old body because in her mind she still felt seventeen....
