A detective who collects suicide notes

He's puzzled by the most chilling one....
(Did you know that if you Google "suicide note," you find sites that offer editorial assistance?)

Hi, Shrinkette,
I came over on the Althouse suggestion, being an fan of her style and outlook, and just read your posts. Wanted to say, a personality is coming through the writing (listen to me saying this to a shrink!), and it seems honest, open, light-hearted, and empathetic. So, what's your downside? (just joking!) The suicide discussion...the several allusions to the act's ambivalence...My comment is only to observe the pathos; poor old souls, literally giving all in order to finally make one clear, unambiguous statement, to go out strong on a command-decision, fully confident in their own judgment...when the truth is, oops, wrong again. Unless perfect nihilism is an achievment, maybe?

Hi, Shrinkette (love the moniker!) I've come upon your blog via She Who Will Be Obeyed, who found you through Ann Althouse. I am a Sister in Arms! I am an emergency psychiatric social worker (thus the name for my blog - Pink Slip Central.) Like you, I work in the trenches of emergency mental health. I work closely with our county's team of psychiatrists and a multi-discplinary team of clinicians in the ER of a county hospital in Central California. In our county, the clinicians conduct the crisis evals and then consult with the doc regarding disposition, so I get to do the down and dirty stuff (while the patients are often quite down and dirty themselves.) This hospital is home to the only locked unit in our county, so our ER ends up evaluating almost every patient being sent in on an involuntary. It's a hopping place, and I just came off three straight evenings, so I'm hoping for a nap today and some peace and serenity at home with my family . . .
Welcome to the blogosphere! I look forward to reading more from you, and I hope you'll come visit my little piece of the world!
